The Deputy President of Kenya, His excellency William Samoei Ruto has just concluded his visit to Nakuru County today, with forays into Subukia, Njoro and Rongai. The residents were happy with this visit which was very surprising to many since it was a weekday.
This is the first visit by the Presidency to Nakuru County after the formation and launch of the Jubilee Party in September. The Deputy president urged the residents of Nakuru to rally around the Jubilee government in it’s projects and vision for the country. ” The government has invested largely on infrastructure and roadworks in all sub counties in Nakuru, because we view this county as a central part in boosting Kenya ‘s economy”, Ruto emphasized.
The County Assembly Speaker Hon. Susan Kihika who was part of the entourage seemed to shine among all the political leaders present in all the functions. In the absence of the County Governor Kinuthia Mbugua, she was viewed as the most senior County Government Official. Her speeches at each stop were very impressive, she delivered messages that aroused the highest cheers from the crowd when she declared her running for the Senate seat.
Declaring herself ready to defend Nakuru’s interests in the Senate, she promised to stand firm on women’s rights, access to medical care for pregnant women. She also impressed the people and got claps and cheers from the crowd when she said Nakuru cannot afford to mix and match elected officials from other parties. ” We must ensure Nakuru elects leaders in the Jubilee Party, our loyalty to the president and his deputy must be shown by our voting patterns”. She extolled Nakuru residents to show in kind their appreciation to the President by voting for him for a second term in 2017.
Speaking in Rongai he said , ” The Nakuru County residents should visualize a leadership that respects women as capable of leadership positions and one that can create change and effect development from the grassroots. She also was viewed as the host to the Deputy President because she was well mentioned as the one who really looked for the Deputy President & other members of parliament to come to Nakuru as a guest for A Women’s Groups Fundraiser.
The Rongai MP was surprisingly missing from the event that was held at his constituency
The events were attended by among others, area MCAs, Njoro Mp John Kiuna, Bahati Mp Kimani Ngunjiri, Subukia Mp Nelson Gaichuhie who were also invited guests.
